| World. Welcome to the world of Story! The best way to describe this world is by explaining that if you were to imagine every fiction book in the library suddenly jumping off the shelf and creating a scree of pages and bindings on the floor. Then let a large puppy have it's way with the paper and leather. Then find an intern to sit there for a couple of days a glue the pile of torn page together the best way he could and present it to you as a patchwork of stories that in some fashion kinda-sorta work. That is the world of Story. You will find elements of classic fantasy here, western, myth, epic poems, fairy tales, urban legend, and American folk lore. That is why when I say that if you like stories you'll find something to like about this place. If you have a favorite hero or character, you'll probably have a chance to see him/her in this web comic. Or if you have a suggestion on a classic hero you would like to see, let us know! We're always up for suggestions. Specifics. For every major city or town in the "real world" the one you and I operate in on a daily basis is represented in Story. What I do is take all of the unique things about the cities history and feel and meld together to create a fantastic representation of that city. For instance, Chicago is historically a very industrious town steeped in architectural achievement and history. So, when you see the Story version of Chicago (often referred to as "Old Chicago" or "Ye Old Chicago") you will see a visual representation of those qualities. All the buildings will be designed differently to reflect the architectural diversity of that city. There will be more neo-classical design, with pillars and marble, for the official buildings because they were introduced to the mystique of the city during the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. As William Moore explores this world, you will see these elements in the different locations he finds. I based much of this story on old Conan the barbarian stories by Robert E. Howard. So assume that this web comic will be very much about exploring the world around and finding new fascinating things along the way. And there you have it. The world you will be reading about for the most part. I say "most part" because there will be times when William Moore will venture out of story and back into the real world. That will not happen for a while yet however, so you need not suffer the confusion of such transitions. Just accept the world around you for what it is, One big extraordinary realm of possibilities and adventure. - Luke All concept art on this page developed by Edwin Rhemrev |
